Job Description: Senior Chemical Engineer – Home Start – £51,130 to £64,999
Nobody really knows how you get it done, apart from you.
At least, that’s what it feels like.
In reality, you’ll be surrounded by talented people with all sorts of skill sets and specialities. They’ll still look to you to guide them in sound and safe decisions, because when it comes to chemical engineering, there’s nobody better and you have the skills and experience to be able to guide others, to make the difficult decisions and define policy.
You’ll be the technical expert on each of the projects you work on, supporting the Project Manager and the rest of the team across the full lifecycle of each project with ownership of process safety. And with £450m to spend on improvements across our high hazard process plants you’ll get exposure across a range of technologies. You’ll also lead safety studies such as HAZOP and LOPA, ensuring that these are carried out to the highest standards. You will work with Operations personal to ensure that our current assets are properly understood and meet current legislative requirements. You will take a lead in understanding the causes of any incidents and ensuring that lessons are learnt. You will understand and communicate what “Best Practice” in the area of Process Safety looks like.
You’ll help design and build everything with an eye on Process Safety. It goes without saying that you’ll need some experience within Major Accident Hazard environments.
You’ll be a Chartered Engineer. To keep your skills from corroding over time, we have an annual budget dedicated to our team’s professional development.
You will have a huge impact on keeping everyone‘s house warm and lit, which is why we continue to aim and achieve 100% uptime on gas transmission for everyone. You’ll also be central to keeping your colleagues across the network safe.
You’ll need to drive to get to various sites around the UK with the odd stop over, but when not at meetings or on site you’ll be working flexibly from home. How far you’ll travel depends on where you live.
If this sounds like you, peek at the perks below:
A salary up to £64,999 dependent on experience. Annual performance bonus of up to 6% of your salary. 25 days holiday (increasing to 26 days following 2 years of employment) plus 8 statutory days – option available to buy extra holiday days. A Job Needs Company Car – you will need to drive 10,000 company miles per year for this benefit. A generous pension scheme where we double match your contribution up to 6% (maximum Company contribution of 12%) of your salary each month i.e. for every £1 you contribute, we’ll put another £2 (you can contribute more un-matched if you want to). You will also have access to several other flexible benefits such as a salary sacrifice car and technology schemes. Access to employee support, care and assistance helplines. Access to Employer Matched charity giving.
The job will close no later than the 12th December it may close earlier.
