Process Engineer/Senior Process Engineer (Hydrogen)
Reporting to the Energy Storage Engineering Manager
UK – This role can be based in any UK RES office – Glasgow, Gateshead, Kings Langley, Truro where we have hybrid working arrangements (60/40 office/home). Alternatively, remote working options considered. (travel will be required to visit project sites, RES’ regional offices, client and supplier premises, requiring occasional overnight stays, with notice.)

Job Purpose/Summary Details
The Process Engineer/Senior Process Engineer is responsible for the Hydrogen Electrolyser System high level design, contract specification and system safety, ensuring projects meet the performance, service and safety requirements defined in the contract, by law, and by RES exacting focus on safety.
The role provides process engineering technical advice relating to: –
Hydrogen electrolysis and ancillary systems incl. water treatment, gas handling and processing High pressure compression; High pressure storage; Distribution of hydrogen and delivery interface with customer(s); Process safety, including Asset Management and O&M adoption

The Process Engineer is responsible during all phases of projects for the following: –
Own, specify and review safety requirements for hydrogen production facilities projects Developing practices and solutions to improve safety and quality in RES’ Hydrogen projects, including controls and optimisation. Lead communication with external authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and notification of incidents and changes to the Health & Safety authority. Define safety-based constraints for site finding including management of consequence modelling Electrolyser, compressor and storage sizing, selection and configuration; Preparation of the technical specifications and definition of the FAT & SAT for hydrogen production facilities Provision of technical support during the delivery phase regarding end user requirements and system performance.
Process Engineers may also support or manage other technology workstreams and other regions within RES global markets.
Knowledge & Experience You Will Have
Process engineering background. Knowledge of risks, hazards and safety mitigations for gas processing plant and pressure vessels Hazard Identification (HazID), Hazard and operability Study (HazOP) or other risk assessment methodologies Proven experience working in process engineering, Experience of specifying, implementing, and assessing process systems.
Qualifications You Will Have
Chartered Engineer with engineering degree in chemical engineering or similar, Or a suitable trades / non-vocational background with considerable equivalent experience
