Piping Discipline Manager – Process & Energy, Glasgow Based
Wood Process & Energy have an opportunity for an experienced Discipline Manager / Lead Engineer with extensive onshore Piping Engineering expertise to manage and oversee a large Engineering and Design function in Glasgow on a permanent basis.

T he planned future is for the office to host a full service offering across Conceptual Engineering, FEED, EPCM, Detailed Design frameworks etc for various major o nshore Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Renewables, Hydrogen and Pharmaceutical projects.
P roviding technical direction over the Piping Disciplines, you will be required to work in collaboration with the teams to set the vision and strategic direction, leading and implementing changes where required. Reporting into the Operations Director you will:

Provide full support to business development and proposals Ensure that all necessary technical governance and assurance reviews and audits are planned and undertaken Prepare a schedule of audits with the Quality Manager and draw on global Wood resources to support as required Solve technical problems, deliver projects and promote the effective management of information Demonstrate technical leadership and assurance services to our clients and project teams Support business winning activities whilst ensuring achievable engineering execution on projects once won

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and lead the disciplines and set responsibility and accountability in agreement and in accordance with company core values and competencies. Liaise, communicate and operate in conjunction with other engineering Discipline Managers to ensure satisfactory teamwork operation for the effective execution of all projects. Direct, manage and coordinate operations and daily activities to support project execution, control manpower, maintain allocated discipline budget and deliver discipline initiatives, plans, targets and short and long term goals. Implement talent management and develop plans that enable the discipline to provide required resources to projects and to aid affiliate companies as agreed. Direct discipline input to cost effective and innovative engineering execution plans that address all aspects of the scope including any specialist sub-contracts.

Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate Engineering discipline Highly preferred that you hold chartered status Previous and extensive experience at a Lead Engineer or Discipline Manager Level Experienced in FEED / EPC organisations in the field of Oil & Gas, Hydrogen, Renewables, Refinery, Petrochemical projects Have a range of technical abilities, including the use of engineering and design software Able to manage and supervise a large team within Piping Engineering and Design functions Able to demonstrate management of changing deadlines and priorities Able to bring at appropriate times, innovation to the engineering and design process from their background Previously taken leadership and responsible positions on project teams Experience of working with various clients and vendors at one time
