Context and environment

TotalEnergies targets 100 GW of renewable generation capacity in 2030 and will continue to expand its business to become a leading international player in renewable energies. Offshore Wind development is one of the axes of this ambition.

Offshore Wind projects are specific by their considerable unit size (classically 500 MW to 2000 MW, 1 to 5 bUSD) and their complexity (multiple partnerships, offshore environment, strong competition, etc.).

Currently, TotalEnergies is already a shareholder of Seagreen (1140 + 360 MW, 51% with SSE), Blue Gem Wind (100 + 300 MW, 80% with SBE) and ODOW (1500 MW, 50% with GIG) in the UK.

On January 17th 2022, a consortium of TotalEnergies, Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG), and Scottish developer RIDG has been awarded leasing rights to develop a 2 GW offshore wind project named the West of Orkney Windfarm. A dedicated and integrated Project Team is currently being set-up with our partners GIG and RIDG. The project team will be responsible for the successful development of the project until FID.
