Job Description: As an Applications Support Engineer, we would need you to help us support and maintain operational service for our DSX/Vision suite of products across the Maritime & Coastguard Agency sites in UK.

Being part of a dedicated team supporting and maintaining SSS Public Safety solutions. SSS Public Safety are looking for an experienced support/triage engineer with a can-do attitude that has an eye for details who works well in pressured environments. Although the role is more focused on triage of incidents, incident resolution and proactive maintenance of SSS Public Safety systems, there will be an element of presentation skills required to talk to your targeted audience which will be both technical and non-technical audience.
Job activity & responsibilities: Triage – resolution of incident, configuration, and support of SSS Public Safety’s DSX & Vision product suite of solution/s at both hardware and software levels on both server and client platforms.Fault finding SSS Public Safety’s DSX & Vision product suite of solution/s at both hardware and software levels.When required, create, review and update SSS Public Safety Engineering documentation, for example workplans, work instructions and technical guidesThe role holder will be required to liaise with several 3rd party providers and internal teams to coordinate various activities and gather / provide information required to complete the tasks at hand.The role is primarily a technical service desk role based in Aberdeen however, as demand requires, you will be expected on occasions to work from other MCA locations.The role will involve extensive customer contact on both a technical and non-technical level requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communication and interaction / service.As experience grows within the role, each engineer requires the ability to regularly answer queries made by the customer on SSS Public Safety managed products. Operational/configuration or performance enhancing.The role will require working both in a team and, potentially autonomously where projects dictate a limited engineering requirement. An increasing level of autonomy is typically achieved after some time in post and suitable experience has been gained.Continually follow and adhere to SSS Public Safety and MCA outlined process & procedures.Complete all activities within set deadlines and report appropriately any difficulties to achieve SLA/delivery milestones. This customer is a 99.999 client, mean that SLA’s are often tight and hold a 15mins response time and shortened fix times. All parts of the supplied product are required to be operationally available at all times.Experience of Service Now call incident system is of benefit.Present a professional approach and attitude to all work undertaken.Engineers are often required to work on their own or in small groups, so self-motivation is of benefit.
Essentially what we require from you:
Minimum of 2-year service desk experience at either a 1st or 2nd line level.Experience of Shift working Day and night. Fixed 12-hour shift rotation2 x 12 hr days followed by 2 x 12 hour Nights then 3 days off.Experience in troubleshooting and problem solvingProven experience administering and working with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server up to 2016Working knowledge of MSSQL ApplicationPractical experience in TCP/IP network supportMS Business Applications experience including Excel, Visio, WordExcellent customer service skillsProven experience working to ITIL best practices.
